Did You Know that Mardi Gras has been celebrated in Pointe Coupée Parish, Louisiana for 80 plus years?

The first Mardi Gras tradition began in Pointe Coupée Parish in 1922 by James "Jimmy" Boudreaux where floats and brass band music paraded through the streets of New Roads. Today, there are three groups who sponsor parades: Community Center Carnival Club, Inc., New Roads Lions Club, and Livonia Carnival Association. The Mardi Gras tradition remains ever popular today in its 8th decade in Pointe Coupée Parish, Louisiana!
