Did You Know, that by the year 2012, a bridge will be completed connecting New Roads and St. Francisville?This bridge is part of the Zachary Taylor Parkway project. The Zachary Taylor Parkway will connect from Alexandria, Louisiana, on the west to Poplarville, Mississippi, on the east, about 210 miles of parkway. Today, there is a ferry that eases travel across the Mississipi River from New Roads to St. Francisville. People have been ferrying across the river as long as boats have been a mode of transportation. This bridge will be a significant historic change for the area, expecting to result into considerable economic development for the parish.
