The original colonial documents for Pointe Coupée Parish are kept in a variety of places for safekeeping, waiting for professional conservation. As each one of us uses the original documents, we can see the iron gall ink scribed cotton fiber paper crumble before our eyes as we turn the pages. Conservation of the records, which includes microfilming and digitizing, allows all of us to see and use the records so they will survive for many years to come.

Here we will showcase a sample of compiled research, translated records and transcripts for Pointe Coupée Parish. Each one of us will experience the breathtaking moment of history as it was said and written at a certain moment in history. We will feel the sense that history stands still as we step back and embrace their words.
